My first week

It's been a hectic, but exciting week since we brought Beer home. As second-time dog owners, we had a bit of experience under our belts, but we were still not quite prepared for the amount of work that goes into caring for a young puppy. But despite the challenges, we are thrilled to have Beer as a new member of our family, joining our six-month-old dachshund.

The first few days were especially chaotic as Beer adjusted to his new surroundings. He was constantly exploring and trying to figure out his place in the household. Unfortunately, this also meant that he had a few accidents and peed everywhere. At first, we were frustrated and upset, but we soon realized that this is a normal part of the process for a new puppy.

One thing that has been incredibly helpful is having two people to care for Beer and our dachshund. While one of us is at work, the other can take over and give the pups the attention they need. This has made it much easier to manage their feeding and potty training schedules.

Speaking of feeding, we decided to switch Beer to a diet of fresh meat instead of dry food. After researching the benefits of a raw food diet, we felt confident that this was the right decision for Beer's health. So far, he seems to be thriving on the new diet and has more energy than ever. We've also noticed a significant improvement in his coat and overall appearance since switching to a fresh food diet.

Another important task that we tackled early on was giving Beer a bath. We wanted to get him clean and smelling fresh as soon as possible, so we washed him the same day that we brought him home. It was a bit of a struggle at first, as Beer was not a fan of the water. But with some patience and persistence, we were able to get him clean and looking handsome.

One of the most difficult challenges we've faced so far is dealing with Beer's constant crying. As an eight-week-old puppy, he is still learning to communicate and express his needs. But the constant crying can be overwhelming, especially when we are trying to sleep or concentrate on other tasks. We've been doing our best to respond to his needs and provide comfort, but it's a learning process for all of us.

In addition to the crying, we've also had to deal with the usual puppy mischievousness. Beer loves to chew on anything he can get his paws on, including shoes, furniture, and even our dachshund's toys. It can be frustrating at times, but we try to remember that this is all part of the process of raising a puppy.

One thing that has been particularly helpful in managing Beer's behavior is keeping him occupied with toys and activities. We've purchased a variety of chew toys, puzzles, and other interactive toys to keep him entertained and mentally stimulated. This has helped to reduce some of the destructive chewing and has given him a healthy outlet for his energy.

In addition to providing mental and physical stimulation, we've also been working on basic training with Beer. We started with simple commands like "sit," "stay," and "come," and have been gradually building on those skills. Beer is a quick learner and seems to enjoy the training sessions. It's been rewarding to see him progress and develop new skills.

Overall, the first week with Beer has been a rollercoaster of emotions. There have been plenty of challenges, but also many joyous moments as we bond with our new furry friend. We are constantly learning and adapting as we navigate the ups and downs
